    My Song is a lyrical high point in Keith Jarrett’s late-1970s European quartet work, and one of the most graceful contemporary jazz albums of its era. Recorded in 1977 with Jan Garbarek, Palle Danielsson and Jon Christensen, it pairs Jarrett’s improvisational fluency with Garbarek’s cool, singing tenor tone and a remarkably responsive rhythm section. The album’s memorable themes and open-ended interplay on pieces such as the title track helped define the ECM sound: spacious, melodic and deeply attentive to detail. Widely regarded as one of Jarrett’s finest group statements, it remains a touchstone for modern jazz listeners.
