"Leftoverture" is the fourth album by Kansas; originally released in 1976.
With Steve Walsh, steve Walsh, who took a back seat in the production, Kerry Livgren came to the fore and retained much of the classically the classically inspired complexity of Livgren's previous Livgren's previous works.
The album opens with the Hit single "Carry On Wayward Son". Kenny Livgren wrote the song as a continuation of the last song "The Pinnacle" from the previous album "Masque".
Rolling Stone voted "Leftoverture" the best album by Kansas: "it warrants Kansas a spot right alongside Boston and Styx as one of the fresh new American bands who combine hard-driving group instrumentation (with a dearth of fl ashy solos) with short, tight melody lines and pleasant singing."
