    About this album

On Tap finds Junior Wells sharpening his Chicago blues with a stronger soul and funk edge. Released in 1974, the album blends bar-band grit with fluid, rhythmic playing, giving Wells room to stretch out as both singer and harmonica stylist. The record reflects the way blues in the 1970s increasingly crossed into soul and funk territory without losing its core feeling, and Wells handles that shift with confidence and authority. Built around sturdy grooves and familiar blues forms, it shows why he remained one of the most distinctive voices in modern Chicago blues.
