Hoodoo Man Blues is a landmark Chicago blues release, bringing Buddy Guy and Junior Wells together in one of the style’s most influential recordings. Issued in 1966, it helped modernise electric blues by balancing hard-hitting band arrangements with Wells’s commanding harmonica and voice, and Guy’s sharp, inventive guitar work. The set’s loose, club-like feel gave the music immediacy without losing drive or clarity. Widely regarded as a defining statement of urban blues, it became an important touchstone for later British blues and rock players, and remains one of the most celebrated recordings in Junior Wells’s catalogue.
