Julia Jacklin – The Gem

Julia Jacklin's fourth album, The Gem, is her first for 4AD and was produced with Robert Muinos in Melbourne. Inspired by the city's close-knit music scene and named after a beloved local venue, the album reflects on the push and pull between intimacy and independence.

Written and recorded with a group of close friends, The Gem took shape in a studio above the pub that gave the album its name. Rather than the fast-paced sessions of previous records, these songs evolved gradually over the course of a year, shaped by collaboration, experimentation and the everyday sounds of the building around them.

Led by the jangling, upbeat first single 'Get Away From Me (I Think I'll Love You Soon)', the album finds Jacklin trusting her instincts and embracing uncertainty. The result is a heartfelt collection of songs about connection, freedom and finding your way back to yourself.
