Joy Division – Substance (E/VG+) – 2xLP, US 2015

Substance is an LP by Joy Division from 2015 released on the Factory, Rhino Records label.

About this album

Substance is a vital Joy Division compilation that distils the band’s stark, influential post-punk legacy into one essential set. Issued in 1988, it gathers early singles, key B-sides and signature recordings such as Warsaw, Transmission, She’s Lost Control, Dead Souls, Atmosphere and Love Will Tear Us Apart, tracing the group’s rapid evolution from raw underground force to one of the defining names of modern alternative music. The collection captures the taut basslines, icy guitars and Ian Curtis’s devastating intensity that made Joy Division so enduring, while also underscoring how their brief career shaped new wave and post-punk for decades afterwards.
