    About this album

The John Williams Collection is a strong snapshot of one of classical guitar’s great virtuosos at the height of his interpretive authority. Issued in 1977, the compilation draws together repertoire that shows Williams’ range across Baroque, Classical and modern writing, from Bach and Scarlatti through Tárrega and Rodrigo to more virtuosic showpieces. His tone is clean, controlled and expressive, with the technical ease that made him a leading recitalist and recording artist. For listeners exploring his catalogue, it presents an elegant, wide-ranging portrait of a musician who helped define the modern classical guitar sound.
