John Mayall – Bottom Line (VG+/VG+) – LP, AU 1979

Bottom Line is an LP by John Mayall from 1979 released on the DJM Records label.

About this album

Bottom Line finds John Mayall expanding his blues-rock language into jazz-funk and soul-tinged territory with real conviction. Released in 1979, the album reflects the restless, genre-crossing side of a musician who had already helped shape British blues through his work with the Bluesbreakers and beyond. Built around taut grooves, bright keyboard colours and Mayall’s seasoned vocals and harmonica, it balances punchy originals such as the title track and Revival with the looser, more melodic feel of late-70s fusion. The result is a compact, exploratory album that shows Mayall still pushing forward rather than trading on his reputation.
