Some Time In New York City is one of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s most overtly political statements, turning early-1970s protest into ragged, confrontational rock. Issued in 1972 with the Plastic Ono Band, and featuring contributions from Elephants Memory and Invisible Strings, the double album tackles feminism, prison reform, Irish politics and wider social unrest with little attempt at smoothing the edges.
