Rock 'N' Roll is one of John Lennon’s most direct solo statements, a rootsy tribute to the music that shaped his early style. Issued in 1975, the album pairs Lennon’s rough-edged, impassioned vocals with classic rock and roll and rockabilly songs that made up part of his musical DNA, including versions of “Stand By Me” and “Be-Bop-A-Lula”. Produced by Lennon, Phil Spector and Spector’s former associates, the record reflects a turbulent making but also a clear love of the originals.
