About this album
Centerfield is John Fogerty’s triumphant solo comeback, reviving the hard-edged roots rock that made him famous with Creedence Clearwater Revival. Issued in 1985, the album found Fogerty re-emerging after years away with lean, hook-heavy songwriting, sharp guitar work and a distinctly American mix of rock, folk and country colour. Built around standout songs such as The Old Man Down The Road, Rock And Roll Girls and the title track, it became one of his best-known solo statements and helped restore his reputation as a major voice in classic rock. Its commercial success and enduring radio life made it a lasting reminder of Fogerty’s gift for anthemic, plain-spoken songwriting.
