About this album

Dialects is a striking and adventurous solo statement from Joe Zawinul, the Weather Report co-founder whose keyboards helped redefine jazz fusion. Released in 1986, the album expands his future jazz vision with electronic textures, global rhythmic ideas and the fluid ensemble writing that became his hallmark. Drawing on folk and world influences without losing its jazz core, it shows Zawinul pushing beyond genre boundaries while keeping the music direct and rhythmic. Pieces such as The Harvest, Waiting For The Rain and 6 A.M. / Walking On The Nile underline the album’s sense of travel, atmosphere and invention, making it an important chapter in his solo catalogue.
