About this album

Naturally is the understated breakthrough that established J.J. Cale as a master of economy, groove and restraint. Released in 1971, the album helped define the Tulsa sound with its loose blend of blues, rock and country shading, built on relaxed rhythms, dry guitar lines and Cale’s unfussy vocal delivery. Best known for songs such as Call Me the Breeze, Magnolia and After Midnight, it showed how minimal arrangements could carry real emotional weight and stay deeply memorable. Its low-key brilliance has made it one of the most influential roots-rock albums of the era, admired by musicians and listeners alike.
