  • Jimmy & Wes - The Dynamic Duo is an LP by Jimmy Smith, Wes Montgomery from 1967 released on the Verve Records label.

    About this album

Jimmy & Wes (The Dynamic Duo) is a superb meeting of two towering jazz voices: organist Jimmy Smith and guitarist Wes Montgomery. Recorded for Verve in 1966 and issued in 1967, it pairs Montgomery’s lyrical single-note lines with Smith’s muscular Hammond B-3 drive, creating a sound that is both hard-swinging and deeply melodic. Backed by a tight rhythm section and produced by Creed Taylor, the album moves easily between bluesy groove and elegant post-bop refinement. It stands as one of the most admired documents of either artist and a classic example of organ-guitar interplay at its best.
