War Child is an LP by Jethro Tull from 1974 released on the Chrysalis label.
About this album
War Child finds Jethro Tull sharpening their prog-rock instincts into something leaner and more immediately melodic. Released in 1974, the album followed the concept-driven A Passion Play and marked a return to more concise, song-led writing without losing Ian Anderson’s trademark wit or the band’s restless musicianship. Backed by the group’s tight arrangement sense and varied textures, it moves between biting commentary, folk-tinged passages and hard-driving rock. ‘Bungle in the Jungle’ became one of Tull’s best-known songs, while ‘Skating Away on the Thin Ice of the New Day’ showed the band could be thoughtful without sounding ponderous. It remains a key mid-’70s Jethro Tull release.
