James Taylor – Gorilla (VG/VG+) – LP, AU

Gorilla is an LP by James Taylor released on the Warner Bros. Records label.

About this album

Gorilla is one of James Taylor’s most assured mid-’70s albums, refining his mellow folk-rock into something warmer, more rhythmic and more soulful. Released in 1975, it followed the huge success of Sweet Baby James and Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon, and showed Taylor balancing reflective songwriting with a looser, more playful feel. The album includes ‘Mexico’ and his popular version of ‘How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)’, alongside songs that highlight his easy melodic touch and understated voice. With its polished songwriting and relaxed band interplay, Gorilla helped confirm Taylor as a defining singer-songwriter of the decade.
