Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass – Whipped Cream & Other Delights (50th Anniversary Edition)

Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass Whipped Cream & Other Delights turned a successful act into a genuine pop phenomenon in 1965, cutting through the British Invasion to spend eight straight weeks at No. 1. Built around a playful food theme, it balances bright brass arrangements with easy-going Latin-pop bounce, and it remains the group's best-known statement for good reason.

The album also captures an important moment in Alpert's career: after the success of South of the Border, he moved beyond the idea of the Tijuana Brass as a studio concept and assembled a working band for growing live demand. That mix of polish and personality runs through the record, from the triple Grammy-winning "A Taste of Honey" to Sol Lake originals like "Green Peppers" and "Bittersweet Samba," which helped define the group's crisp, catchy sound.

Its cultural footprint goes beyond the charts. The title track became widely familiar through The Dating Game, while the cover image of model Dolores Erickson draped in whipped cream became one of the most recognizable sleeves of the era. This 50th Anniversary edition brings the album back to vinyl with the original artwork intact and a remaster from the original analog tapes.
