Hawkwind – P.X.R.5 (VG/VG+) – LP, AU 1979

P.X.R.5 is an LP by Hawkwind from 1979 released on the Charisma label.

About this album

P.X.R.5 finds Hawkwind sharpening their cosmic rock into a leaner, harder-edged form. Released in 1979, the album balances driving riffs, dystopian sci-fi imagery and the band’s trademark interstellar momentum, reflecting a late-’70s shift towards a more direct hard rock attack. Songs such as Death Trap, Uncle Sam’s On Mars and High Rise show Hawkwind turning their space rock into something brisker and more aggressive without losing the hypnotic pull that defined their best work. It stands as a strong late-period statement from one of Britain’s most influential underground rock bands, bridging freak-out freedom and muscular post-punk era urgency.
