Haute & Freddy’s Big Disgrace arrives as the Los Angeles duo’s debut album, turning the world they built around 2024 breakout single “Scantily Clad” into a full-length statement. Michelle Buzz and Lance Shipp frame the record with a very specific mix of theatre, obscure synth textures and underground club energy, while the band’s fan community, the Royal Court, has already made their shows feel like part gig, part pageant.
That sense of spectacle is central to the album rather than just decoration. The songs lean into polished alt-pop hooks, but they’re pushed forward by mischief, costume-drama flair and a slightly unruly cabaret streak. Tracks such as “Anti-Superstar,” “Freaks” and “Shy Girl” show how comfortably Haute & Freddy move between sharp songwriting and deliberately excessive presentation, making the album feel more like an invitation into their strange little universe than a conventional debut.
Big Disgrace also lands after a fast rise: Haute & Freddy were highlighted by Rolling Stone as an artist to watch, built momentum through sold-out headline dates, and saw “Shy Girl” pass 3 million global streams before the album’s release. For a first LP, it already sounds fully formed: playful, theatrical and knowingly over the top, with enough pop precision to keep all that colour firmly in focus.
