    About this album

Shinin' On finds Grand Funk Railroad leaning into punchy, hard-edged arena rock while tightening the melodic hooks that made them a major US draw. Released in 1974, the album features the title track and a muscular remake of "The Loco-Motion", a surprise hit that gave the band one of their biggest singles and broadened their mainstream reach. Built around forceful guitars, big choruses and a streamlined groove, the record reflects the group's mid-70s commercial peak and their knack for turning straightforward rock into chart-friendly momentum. It remains a strong example of their radio-ready heavy sound.
