    About this album

Winter Into Spring is a graceful early statement from George Winston, refining his lyrical solo piano approach into music that feels both intimate and wide open. Released in 1982, the album draws on seasonal imagery and natural motion, with pieces such as “January Stars” and “Blossom / Meadow” framing Winston’s blend of melody, space and gentle rhythmic flow. Part of the wave that helped define contemporary New Age music, it shows why Winston became such an influential pianist: accessible without being simplistic, contemplative without losing shape, and deeply rooted in atmosphere, folk-inflected feeling and quiet emotional resonance.
