About this album
George Benson’s The Love Songs distils his polished 1980s crossover sound into a strong, radio-friendly compilation. Drawing on his late-1970s and early-1980s hit run, it gathers signature sides such as Give Me the Night, Love X Love, Turn Your Love Around and In Your Eyes, showing how Benson blended jazz-guitar finesse with smooth soul and pop appeal. By this period he had become one of the most successful adult contemporary artists of the era, and these tracks underline why: supple vocals, precise playing and immaculate production that helped define sophisticated mainstream soul in the 1980s.
