George Benson, Earl Klugh – Collaboration (E/E) – LP, AU 1987

Collaboration is an LP by George Benson, Earl Klugh from 1987 released on the Warner Bros. Records label.

About this album

Collaboration is a polished meeting of two of jazz’s most recognisable guitar voices, George Benson and Earl Klugh. Released in 1987, the album brings together Benson’s fluid, vocal-like phrasing and Klugh’s elegant acoustic touch on a set that moves easily between soul-jazz, smooth jazz and Latin-flavoured material. With a breezy, radio-friendly feel and a strong melodic focus, it reflects how late-1980s contemporary jazz crossed over into adult audiences without losing musicianship. The title track and pieces such as Brazilian Stomp and Jamaica underline the album’s relaxed, international feel, making it a notable collaboration in both artists’ catalogues.
