Nursery Cryme is an LP by Genesis from 2014 released on the Atlantic, Charisma, Rhino Records label.
About this album
Nursery Cryme helped establish Genesis as prog rock visionaries. Issued in 1971, this early album introduced the classic line-up era’s blend of elaborate arrangement, surreal lyricism and sudden dynamic shifts, with Peter Gabriel’s theatrical delivery becoming central to the band’s identity. Recorded as the group moved further from their more pastoral beginnings, it features some of their best-known early pieces, including The Musical Box and The Fountain of Salmacis, both key examples of their ambitious narrative style. The album became an important stepping stone in Genesis’ development and a defining document of early British progressive rock.
