Getting Killed is the latest album from Brooklyn-based band Geese, released 26 September 2025. It marks a turning point: recorded over just ten days with producer Kenneth Blume (aka Kenny Beats), the band leans further into experimentation, dissonance and genre-blurring songwriting. The collisions of rock, soul, avant textures and looser forms give the record a volatile, jagged energy.
Lyrically and sonically, the album embraces ambiguity, combining moments of raw intensity (“Trinidad” opens with a scream) with more restrained passages that breathe. There’s a sense of risk here — ideas left half-formed, transitions that jar — but that scruffy boldness is part of its charm. Geese’s confidence extends beyond flair: their command of texture, dynamic shifts and vocal character make this their most striking statement yet.
Reviews
“There’s a lot going on across Geese’s third album, ‘Getting Killed’, yet it never feels like they’re losing control of the chaos.” — NME
“ an album of and for our times. Reportedly recorded in just 10 days, it thrives on sharp edges, sudden turns, and a kind of half-broken beauty.” — Slant Magazine
“a deeply exciting, provoking, and necessary gulf of no-fuss rock music.” — Paste Magazine
“Geese’s Getting Killed Isn’t Just the Best Project Yet from the New York City Band, It’s One of the Most Creative Indie Rock Albums of the Year.” — Consequence
