Free – Highway (VG/VG) – LP, AU 1971

Highway is an LP by Free from 1971 released on the Island Records label.

About this album

Highway finds Free refining the muscular blues-rock that made them one of Britain’s key early hard rock bands. Issued in 1970, the album balances taut riff-driven songs with slower, soulful cuts, giving Paul Rodgers room to stretch his distinctive voice while Paul Kossoff’s guitar keeps the sound raw and immediate. ‘The Stealer’ became one of the group’s best-known songs, and the record as a whole shows the band moving with confidence between hard-edged drive and moody restraint. For listeners drawn to classic British rock with real blues feel, Highway is an important chapter in Free’s short but influential run.
