    About this album

Tamás Vásáry’s reading of Chopin’s 4 Scherzi is a refined Romantic recital that balances brilliance, colour and inward lyricism. These four works, among Chopin’s most demanding and imaginative piano pieces, move from the stormy first Scherzo in B minor to the expansive final Scherzo in E major, demanding both technical control and a keen sense of structure. Vásáry, admired for his elegance and musical intelligence, brings clarity to the fast passagework and shape to the contrasting moods, showing why these pieces remain benchmarks of the piano repertoire. It is a striking example of Chopin interpretation in the mid-1960s.
