Symphonie Nr. 8 H-moll D. 759 »Unvollendete« / Symphonie Nr. 5 C-moll Op. 67 is an LP by Ludwig van Beethoven, Berliner Philharmoniker, Franz Schubert, Lorin Maazel released on the Deutsche Grammophon label.
About this album
A powerful pairing of two cornerstones of the symphonic repertoire, this release brings Beethoven’s Fifth and Schubert’s “Unfinished” into sharply focused performance under Lorin Maazel. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 remains one of the most recognisable works in classical music, with its dramatic opening motif and hard-won triumph shaping the symphony tradition itself. Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, left unfinished yet complete in emotional impact, is cherished for its lyrical beauty and restless depth. The Berlin Philharmonic’s polished sound gives both works authority and clarity, making this a compelling modern reading of two enduring Romantic masterpieces.
