It rose to No. 2 and remained in the charts for a total of 33 weeks. "In the Wee Small Hours" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1984. The ballad album is considered one of Sinatra's most jazz-heavy works. Most of the songs are melancholy and sad; they seem to be a way of coming to terms with Sinatra's marriage to actress Ava Gardner, which had broken down shortly before.
