Fleet Foxes is a breakthrough debut that helped define the 2000s indie folk revival. Released in 2008, the Seattle band’s first full-length brought meticulous harmonies, wooded imagery and a warmly analogue feel to songs that sounded both intimate and expansive. Led by Robin Pecknold’s writing, the album drew on folk-rock, country and choral tradition without losing its modern edge, and quickly won wide critical acclaim. White Winter Hymnal became an enduring calling card, while the record’s rich vocal layers and melodic precision made it a touchstone for a new generation of folk-influenced artists.
