About this album
Snakes And Ladders / The Best Of Faces is a strong snapshot of one of Britain’s most loose-limbed hard-rock bands. Issued in 1976, it draws on the group’s early-’70s run to showcase the blend of blues rock, R&B bite and ragged charm that made Faces a cult favourite. With Ronnie Lane, Ronnie Wood, Rod Stewart, Kenney Jones and Ian McLagan in the line-up, the band balanced bar-room grit with melodic heft, and songs such as Stay With Me and Ooh La La helped define their legacy. This compilation underlines why Faces remain one of the era’s most enduring rock groups.
