    Long Player is a high-spirited showcase for Faces at their most loose-limbed and loud. Released in 1971, the album refines the band’s rough-edged blend of blues rock and hard rock, with Rod Stewart’s gravelly vocals riding Ronnie Wood and Ronnie Lane’s guitar interplay. It follows quickly on from the band’s debut and captures a group still finding its own identity while sharpening a sound that felt earthy, playful and defiantly unpolished. “Had Me a Real Good Time” and “Maybe I’m Amazed” underline their knack for turning swagger into something memorable, helping establish Faces as one of British rock’s most charismatic early-70s acts.
