The Language Of Life is an LP by Everything But The Girl from 1990 released on the Blanco Y Negro label.

About this album

The Language Of Life is one of Everything But The Girl’s most polished early albums, blending sophisticated pop with electronic and soul influences. Released in 1990, it finds Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt moving beyond indie-folk roots into a smoother, more contemporary sound, with arrangements that frame Thorn’s clear, understated vocal style in glossy synths and rhythmic detail. The album marked an important step in the duo’s evolution and helped set the stage for the more club-orientated work that would later bring them wider international recognition. Elegant, assured and forward-looking, it remains a key release in their catalogue.
