Just One Night is a convincing live showcase of Eric Clapton’s late-1970s resurgence, drawing on the blues-rock and country-rock sound that had renewed his career. Recorded in 1979 and issued in 1980, the set presents Clapton with a band that can shift from lean shuffle to slow-burn ballad without losing momentum. Familiar songs such as Wonderful Tonight, Lay Down Sally, Cocaine and After Midnight show how his songwriting and guitar tone translated onstage, while the tougher blues numbers underline his roots. It became one of his most popular live albums and a strong document of Clapton’s arena-era confidence.
