Enya – Enya (VG+/VG+) – LP, UK 1986

Enya is an LP by Enya from 1986 released on the BBC Records label.

About this album

Enya introduced the singer’s trademark Celtic ambient sound, blending layered vocals, folk melody and synthesised atmosphere into a distinctive debut. Originally released in 1987 after its first life as the soundtrack to the BBC series The Celts, the album marked Enya’s emergence from Clannad’s orbit as a solo artist with a uniquely recognisable style. Working with producer Nicky Ryan and lyricist Roma Ryan, she turned myth, history and pastoral imagery into music that felt both intimate and expansive. Songs such as Boadicea and I Want Tomorrow helped establish the sound that would later bring her worldwide success.
