Elvis Presley is an LP by Elvis Presley from 1956 released on the RCA Australia label.
About this album
Elvis Presley is the explosive debut that turned rock and roll into a mass cultural force. Issued in 1956, it captured Elvis Presley at the moment his blend of hillbilly swing, blues grit and gospel feeling was overturning pop convention. Recorded with the help of his Sun-era backing musicians and RCA studio players, the album pairs reinventions such as Blue Suede Shoes and Tutti Frutti with performances that made Presley’s voice sound both effortless and dangerous. It became his first No. 1 album in the US and remains a landmark of rockabilly and early rock & roll, defining the template for the modern pop star.
