Produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley, it yielded one of Costello’s best-known singles, Everyday I Write The Book, while Shipbuilding became a celebrated anti-war song associated with British pop of the period. The record broadened Costello’s audience without softening his edge, standing as one of the key albums in his early-1980s catalogue.
