Elton John – A Single Man (VG/VG+) – LP, AU 1978

A Single Man is an LP by Elton John from 1978 released on the The Rocket Record Company label.

About this album

A Single Man shows Elton John refining his pop-rock craft with polished hooks and a more solitary, introspective tone. Released in 1978, it was his first album without longtime songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, with lyric duties shared by Gary Osborne and others, giving the record a different emotional shape. The album moves between bright melodic piano pop and restrained ballads, while ‘Song for Guy’ became one of John’s best-known instrumentals and a notable international hit. With its combination of mainstream accessibility and personal unease, the album marks a distinctive late-1970s chapter in his catalogue.
