About this album

The Best Of Ella Fitzgerald is a strong 1966 compilation that highlights why Fitzgerald remains one of jazz’s defining vocalists. Drawing on her classic interpretations of standards such as I Won’t Dance, Honeysuckle Rose and The Thrill Is Gone, it captures her effortless swing, immaculate timing and remarkable tonal control. By the mid-1960s Fitzgerald was already a towering figure whose songbook recordings and live performances had helped set the benchmark for mainstream jazz singing. This collection distils that reputation into a concise portrait of her versatility, combining warmth, rhythmic ease and technical poise in performances that remain central to her legacy.
