Crocodiles is a fierce debut that established Echo & The Bunnymen as one of post-punk’s most distinctive bands. Released in 1980, the album blends jagged guitar lines, restless rhythms and Ian McCulloch’s dramatic vocals into songs that feel both immediate and haunting. With tracks such as Rescue, Villiers Terrace and Stars Are Stars, the band sharpened the dark romanticism emerging from Liverpool’s late-1970s underground into something taut, melodic and memorable. It became an important early statement for the group, helping define the sound that would carry them into the 1980s and beyond.
