After "Love & Death", the sensational first studio album by Ghanaian music legend Ebo Taylor, which was released worldwide, Strut is now releasing "Life Stories", the first showcase of his work.
Taylor made a name for himself as one of the leading figures of the highlife era of the 50s and 60s in Ghana and increasingly came to the fore as a composer and frontman. At the beginning of the 60s, Ebo Taylor moved to London, where he studied at the renowned Eric Guilder School of Music together with his friend Fela Kuti. He led several well-known bands, including the famous Broadway Band, the Uhuru Dance Band & the Apagya Show Band. As musical director at Essiebons, Gapophone and Polygram, he also composed and arranged numerous songs for other great musicians such as CK Mann, Pat Thomas, Jewel Ackah, Papa Yankson. in 2010, the now 74-year-old Ebo Taylor went into the studio with the Berlin-based Afrobeat Academy, consisting of musicians from Poets Of Rhythm, Kabu Kabu and the legend Marijata from Ghana, to record another album, "Love & Death", after almost 20 years.
This compilation is the first to bring together the greatest hits from Ebo Taylor's heyday in the 70s and focuses on his solo albums.
