As It Happens catches Dr. Feelgood at full tilt, turning their tough, stripped-back pub rock into a sharp live statement. Released in 1979, the album draws on the band’s blues rock, rock ’n’ roll and R&B roots, with Wilko Johnson’s jagged guitar and Lee Brilleaux’s gritty vocals driving the performance. The set includes some of the group’s best-known material, including Down at the Doctors and Milk and Alcohol, and shows why Dr. Feelgood became one of the most influential British live bands of the era. Its energy and economy helped keep pub rock vital at the end of the 1970s.
