What A Life! is an LP by Divinyls from 1985 released on the Chrysalis label.
About this album
What A Life! sharpened Divinyls’ rough-edged pub-rock energy into a more polished new wave and pop-rock statement. Issued in 1985, the album showed the Australian band extending beyond their early club circuit roots while keeping Chrissy Amphlett’s commanding, unsentimental vocal style at the centre. Built around strong hooks and tougher melodic writing, it helped establish Divinyls as one of the more distinctive rock-pop acts of the era. Pleasure & Pain stands out as the album’s best-known song, but the record’s appeal lies in how it balances bite, melody and attitude without softening the band’s edge.
