About this album
Last Time I Saw Him shows Diana Ross broadening her post-Supremes identity with a polished, emotionally direct soul set. Issued in 1973, the album moves between elegant balladry and brighter R&B textures, with the title track giving Ross one of her most memorable early-70s solo statements. It sits at an important point in her catalogue, where she was refining a voice that could carry both pop sophistication and heartfelt intimacy. The record’s blend of warm arrangements, strong melodies and assured performance helped strengthen Ross’s standing as a major solo artist beyond Motown’s group era.
