About this album

The Best Of Del Shannon is a sharp snapshot of one of rock ’n’ roll’s most distinctive voices. Issued in 1967, the compilation gathers the hits that made Shannon a standout in the early 1960s, led by the urgent momentum of Runaway and the brisk heartbreak of Hats Off To Larry and Keep Searchin’ (We’ll Follow The Sun). His mix of high-tenor vocals, dramatic arrangements and unmistakable melodicism helped bridge rock ’n’ roll and pop with real commercial force. For listeners coming to Shannon through his best-known singles, this set shows why his songs remained durable well beyond their original chart runs.
