Released in 1983, it fused heavy-riff muscle with polished, radio-ready melody, and producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange helped shape its disciplined, high-gloss sound. Anchored by hits such as Photograph, Foolin’ and Rock of Ages, the album broadened the reach of hard rock in the MTV era and helped define the commercial peak of 1980s arena metal.
