Dead Kennedys – Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables (VG+/VG+) – LP, IT 1981

Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables is an LP by Dead Kennedys from 1981 released on the Ariston Music, Cherry Red label.

About this album

Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables is a defining hardcore punk statement, turning Dead Kennedys’ sharp wit and political fury into one of the era’s most influential debuts. Issued in 1980, the album helped set the template for American hardcore while stretching beyond sheer speed with bitter satire, dark humour and tightly controlled musical attack. Jello Biafra’s venomous vocals and the band’s wiry, fast-moving arrangements give songs like California Über Alles, Holiday in Cambodia and Kill the Poor their enduring bite. Its blend of confrontation, intelligence and black comedy made the record a touchstone for punk that was as politically pointed as it was musically urgent.
