About this album

David Soul is a polished soft rock and pop rock album that shows the actor-singer leaning into mellow, radio-friendly songwriting. Issued in 1976, it reflects the era’s easygoing AM-friendly sound, with warm arrangements, clear melodies and a reflective tone that suits Soul’s understated delivery. Best known to many as Hutch from Starsky & Hutch, Soul also scored chart success as a recording artist, and this album helped establish him beyond television fame. Songs such as The Wall and Bird on a Wire highlight the record’s gentle hooks and accessible emotional pull, making it a tidy example of mid-70s crossover pop.
