About this album

Demon In Disguise is a fine showcase for David Bromberg’s deft blend of folk, country rock and bluegrass. Released in 1972, the album finds the multi-instrumentalist turning his encyclopaedic roots knowledge into something relaxed, witty and musically precise, with acoustic interplay and band arrangements that stay loose without losing shape. Bromberg’s easygoing vocal style and instrumental fluency give the record its appeal, while material such as the title track and his spirited treatment of traditional forms helped establish him as one of the era’s most respected Americana root musicians. It remains a strong example of early-1970s genre-crossing done with real command.
