Stage is a sharp, revealing document of David Bowie’s late-1970s reinvention, capturing him at the point where glam theatrics gave way to art-rock precision. Recorded live during the 1978 Isolar tour and released later that year, the album draws on material from across Bowie’s career, including Ziggy Stardust, Fame, Warszawa and "Heroes", reframed with the taut, colder sound of his Berlin period. Produced by Bowie and Tony Visconti, it shows how his work had evolved from rogue pop star spectacle into a controlled, experimental live art form.
